This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (like browser local storage) we use on Eden & Friends, and why. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy and is provided under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. “Local storage” is a similar way a site can remember small pieces of information in your browser. Both can be strictly necessary (the site can’t work properly without them) or used for things like analytics and advertising.
What we use — and don’t
We only use strictly-necessary cookies and storage. Under PECR these don’t require a consent banner, but we believe in telling you about them anyway. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party analytics such as Google Analytics.
Keeping you signed in
When you sign in, our authentication provider Supabase stores a secure session token (a cookie/local-storage entry beginning sb-) so you stay logged in and don’t have to re-enter your details on every page. Removing it simply signs you out.
Keeping the site secure
Our public forms are protected by server-side spam and rate-limit checks that need no cookies at all — we don’t run any third-party verification widgets.
Remembering small preferences
We use a little local storage to remember harmless interface details — for example, a local counter on the waitlist, a note that you’ve already introduced yourself, and a random id so our Ideas & feedback board can count one vote per idea per device (which stops duplicate votes). These stay in your browser, are never sent to advertisers, and aren’t used to track you across sites or build a profile.
Managing cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and set most browsers to block them. Because the cookies we use are strictly necessary, blocking them may stop you signing in or submitting our forms, but you can still browse the public directory. Guides for the main browsers are available at aboutcookies.org.
Changes to this policy
If we ever introduce new cookies — for example, optional analytics — we’ll update this policy first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent before setting them.
